"In the Pink" Mannequin - Green Tara

Hi again!  Today I have still another OTP piece to share with you... I've been having the best fun!

I have had this mannequin form for years!  It's just a little papier mache one, and last year I managed to gesso it... and then it sat there until last week, and she finally got painted and dressed!!

I painted her by putting some paint into a spray bottle and diluting it with water, then I sprayed her from the top and let the colour run down.  I've done a few coats with different dilutions of paint to water which gave different colour weights.

And then I dressed her!  The Pearl Trim strands made a perfect necklace, with a trimmed piece from the Silver Diamante Trim at her throat.

She has a double layered Tulle skirt, overlayed with 5cm and 8.5cm Lace and a big Polka Dot Organza Ribbon bow as a bustle.  And then she has a gorgeous bouquet of Silk Flowers with Swarovski Crystals and Roses clustered around a beautiful Satin Rosette at both her waist and feet!

Heart and Soul Reverse Canvas - Green Tara

Hi everyone!  Today I have another reverse Canvas to share with you.  I'm so very pleased with how this one turned out!!

[click on the image for a larger view]

It's a little deep edge 8x10 Canvas, which I'm finding is just the perfect size... a Goldilocks moment, not too big, not too small!  I have drawn upon some things I've learned from Linda Baldock's flooded canvas classes to create this; using impasto on the frame, flooding it with loads of colour sprays and then instead of sealing it all in resin, I've added a coating of clear gloss varnish and crackle varnish to the background, allowing the flowers to sit on top.

And of course... it's been smothered with gorgeous Green Tara Flowers, Ribbons, Lace and Trims!

I have used almost every flower in my stash that matched on this one.  Cherry Blossoms, Damask, Roses, Silk with Swarovski Crystals, Primulas and Heirloom Flowers.  I've also used Lace, Polka Dot Organza Ribbon, Bows and some Silver Diamante Trim... all that on this little canvas!

I've added a quote to the inside edge of the frame... I like that it's not so obvious there, like a surprise for people who take the time to look at it.  For this one I've used "Time to create" said her Heart.  "It's about time" replied her soul.  I thought it was fitting as this messy free creating is something I've been missing, just didn't realise I was... my soul took a sight of relief once I started spraying this canvas with colour!

As well as all the flowers, I've added a bow made from Polka Dot Organza... it has been caught in the gloss varnished background and appears to 'float', love it!

I've also used Lace Trim in the background, and set it with some Impasto and dragged the Impasto down along the left edge... I love the different colours that come through when they react to the difference base mediums such as the canvas, the lace and the impasto.

The wrapped canvas has had some staples removed and the canvas push back.  Once the Impasto and colours are dried I've rubbed some Old Silver Metallic Rub over to pick up all the wonderful textures!

The locket was given to me by one of my sweet friends... is was just that last perfect thing it needed!  I've popped the word "soul" onto the top of the frame instead of the inside so that it relates with the heart... creating the "Heart and Soul" title for this piece.

Art Soul Life Mini Canvas - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi everyone!  Today I have a little art canvas to share with you... I created this while I was procrastinating making something else, thinking it was supposed to happen that way!

[click on the image for larger view]

I have used Want 2 Scrap stencils with Texture Paste to created the brick wall background and layered it with loads of colour.

I've cut some butterflies from Want 2 Scrap canvas, coloured them and added matching Bling to give them loads of wow factor.

I've made some flowers with the Mulberry Paper from the Mix'd Media Stax 2.  I love the different effect using the Mulberry has instead of using plain patterned papers. I have wet them after cutting and shaping them and the water made the paper soften even more and create this felt like look.

I've also cut some shadow flowers from mulberry paper which I've coloured with smooch spritz, they add a soft contrast with the bricks.

I hope you like what I have created... I had lots of fun making a mess with this one!  I have a step by step tutorial also for you  on how I created the background, and how to utilise all the left over colour.

Let Go, Surrender, Have Faith - The Dusty Attic

Hi lovelies!  Today I have a canvas I created to share with you... a sweet friend of mine asked me to help her create her first mixed media canvas and it got me off and running again.  Id' forgotten just how much I really loved getting messy, realised I've missed it!

The fabulous Dusty Attic Corner Flourish #5 from the April release fitted beautifully over the corners, then I have added sweet Flutterbies #3, Birdcage #5 and mini Birds #3 and created a title using the mini ABC Set Lower.

The chipboard pieces were spray painted white and then the flourishes and alphas misted with River Mossy and Tea Party Smooch Spritz and Apricot Nectar, Peacock and Mint Chocolate Chip Chalkboard Mists.

The sweet butterflies and cages were touched with some old silver metallic rub and the birds were touched with some Patina and Honey Mix'd Media Inx.

The canvas background with stencilled first with texture paste before the colour was added to add some slight texture.

The flowers were also touched with some colour mists to blend them in with the canvas background.

Thanks for popping by today!  I hope you like this canvas, it was fun to just let go and play and let the work create itself!

Collage ATC - The Dusty Attic

This month's ATC Theme at Dusty is Collage, and my first thought was the little inchie art collages we used to do years ago... so I did that!

I used one of the ATC Window Frame from the ATC Window Set as it had all the sweet little inserts that I could decorate in the collage style.  I've used paints, texture paste, metallic wax rub, rubons, german scrap, seed beads, microbeads and transparencies all layered over each other.

Each tiny little square was then popped back into it's frame to create the little collage piece.  Lastly I popped a sweet Mini Corner #2 into the corner, simple painted white then coated with Dusty's Clear Crackle Varnish and then sprinkled with a few iddy mircobeads.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you join in with this sweet ATC Theme!
