An Anniversary...

It's mine and DH's 11th wedding Anniversary today! Nothing special happening other than water heater shopping {woohoo - not}, but it's our day. We are going to a favourite spot this afternoon for a sausage sizzle... have a walk by the dam... feed the kookaburras... let Kel play with his cousin if they can make it as well. Not what I originally had planned {weekend at Burswood being wickedly decadent}... but will still be lovely as we can spend a few hours away from the hussle-bussle of our life and just be a family.

As our funds are non-existant we have no cards or gifts... but gifts have never been an important part of our special occasions! We did, however, treat each other to small tubs of Connoisuer Ice-Cream!!! Of which, I just ate mine - Cookie Cream Commotion - {with Kellan helping} and I'm sure Darren will leave his {Chocolate Obsession} in the freezer to tease me for weeks to come!!

I was determined to sleep in today and snuggle with hubby... but that didn't happen! I can't sleep past 8am now and it annoys me! When Kel was old enough to fend for himself in the mornings, I used to sleep in until 11am on a Saturday - Darren would be up - but I would snore away... not now!! Guess I caught up on the lack of sleep I had when Kel was a bub!! Taking care of a baby and working full-time doesn't leave much unbroken sleep for a mum!! But this last year... usually wide awake {well half awake} by 8am... 9 at the latest!!

I have Angel LO's to do with some FAB papers... not my usual thing, but I love them {mind you - what's usual for me these days!!} I have sketches ready, matched this with that - just have to get photos. But might scrap them anyway and then put the photos in afterwards - wouldn't be the first time! Sometimes I just want to scrap, but never have the right pic. So I scrap and add the pic later!! Is that called obsession or just plain old desperate!?!

Well that's me for today... take care all!!

Quick post...

Yesterday I got my next DT pack.. and wowee - these papers are yummo! Now what to do with them!?! I also put the next Angel Medley together last night - record time! It is going to be gorgeous again - but then I am so totally biased!! Poor Lynn would've been up to all hours answering my emails - do you have, can you get - doubt she got many orders packed! Sorry Lynn but I was on roll!!
My last Angel Medley is selling really well - phew - so if you were thinking of getting one with those stunning Daisy D's papers, get in quick!! I can't stop using the Daisy D Heirloom papers. I had one of every pattern and have nearly used them all...
And on exciting news... {well exciting for me}... I got my precious BG Urban Couture pack... as glorious as I thought it would be!!
And RIBBONS!! I just sorted through and posted the LC's 3 Ribbons Swaps so have 30 yummy metres here... and just received a stash from Lynn. She has bought in these retro, circle and flower designs in satin and they are only $1.00 per metre... talk about bargain!! I almost have enough to roll in them!!
OK... so it was a supply ramble... but is there any better thing in life than scrap supplies. Well perhaps winning Lotto - but that aside... woohoo for new scrap stuff!!

Unproductive...

Yesterday was by far a very unproductive day! Scrapped 1 {yes a whole ONE} 8x8 LO and that's it! Sorry Karen - still haven't got your CJ finished... will try today!!

The NOT SO LOVELY ANYMORE Lisa played an April Fool's Day prank on us Scrappi Dais girls... she's the devil this girl! And the ever sweet Karen ain't so sweet anymore, being in on it as well! I really am the fool though - fell for it hook, line and sinker and really really really shoulda known better considering the day... but as Chelle said - she'll keep! Read all about it on the Scrappi Dais Blog. And yes ladies - you are both forgiven - I still love you both... but one day... one day an opportunity will arise and the rest of us Scrappi Dai girls will be sure to take it!!

Went to MIL's house for coffee, then came home and The Stepford Wives remake was just starting on Foxtel - so I watched that instead. Was funny, I enjoyed it...

Today so far... washing, dishes... oh the thrills of not being rich enough to have a maid!! How'd that lotto ticket go Lisa..? that would be a good way to play make up for the prank!!

Weekend is here...

Who doesn't love the weekends... especially one that's cool and cloudy, inviting you to stay all snug in your jammies with a nice hot coffee, doing whatever you want! Well I guess a few of you won't like that - but this girl loves it! I love winter and we're having our first touch of it today!!
I've been off sick for 2 days... literally had trouble actually getting out of bed. All my muscles and joints were agony, head was thumping, nose blocked, fevers up and down. But today after much rest and medication I feel finally on the mend... everything still hurts but the rest has done me good!

So what does the weekend hold... not a lot. As I said its cold and overcast - perfect veggin' weather! We did plan to have a sausage sizzle sometime... but perhaps that will be tomorrow. I think Kel wants to go to Minnawarra Park to feed the ducks. I also have to go buy ribbons for the swaps I am hosting - slack me is the last one to get them sorted... but no pennies to buy said ribbons. Darren gave me some money, enough to get them so I'll go up the shops later!! Love buying ribbons!!

Hopefully I can get some scrapping in... as well as some more sleeps, need to be well for Monday, I'm sure there will be heaps of work for me to do when I get back!

I did finish a layout that I started with the girls last weekend. Didn't know what to do as a title and settled for boring - but hand sewed it to make it pretty! Here 'tis:

The flowers are made from ribbons - Ali Stafford showed us how to make them at the retreat and I've been dying to use them! I used some of that vignetted wire edged ribbon here for the big flowers and love the effect!

This one I did last night - Lisa & I both don't like the staples. Works for others - but not me, so I'll be changing that later - when I get the energy!! But one has to try these things on for size to see if they suit before making a decision!

So that's it! My new Angel LO's are in the Angel Gallery now... using Daisy D's Heirloom papers and my fave LO's at the moment! Go have a see... also the new Angel Medley is out for sale - again great value for money... and features those gorgeous Daisy D's Papers!!

Hopefully I will have some new Layouts to share next time! If we're lucky they won't be of me!!

Ummmm... what to say!!

The ever darling Lisa is hounding me for an update... so what to say!!

OK... this weekend just gone was the 2nd LC's Cyber Crop I hosted and was another rip-rouring success I'm proud to say! The crops go from Friday night right through to Sunday night... so as you can imagine it's a hard slog for me... but the most fun hard slog I can imagine! I really love doing it!! I set 3 challenges for the weekend. First was to use a song title or song lyrics as the title for a LO and include a handmade embellishment. This is what I created:
I have since had this song going through my head all day!!

Second was a colour challenge. The colours this time were Blue, Orange and Green in a 60:30:10 colour combination, inspired by the new Queen & Co Fab Flowers and Sassy Sequins in the Cloud 9 colours I just bought from Lynn {they are yumola!!}:

Third was an inspiration challenge. I found an ad with good design elements and a variety of images and challenged everyone to draw inspiration from it. Everyone did a great job and Lee's inspiration is featured on LC's front page! Mine honestly isn't crash hot... I rushed this and vow never to rush one again... until next time!!!

I also had another fab Scrappi Dai to go to!! Lisa set me up with her lap-top so I could host the Cyber Crop and still be with the girls... don't ever want to miss a Scrappi Dais day!! I only did 2 halves of layouts... finished one yesterday {will be unveiled in the Angels gallery soon} and still have the other to finish... we were too busy gas-bagging as usual! Lisa surprised us with a project she'd been working on... our very own Scrappi Dais Blog! It's really cool! Thanks hun...

What else... shall I share the doldrums, well only a bit. I prefer to live in happy world, fleeting as it is!! Oh actually the doldrums really aren't that bad now when I think of it... Darren is FINALLY starting back at work this week... starting 2 x 4 hour days. Slowly slowly wins the race... It's been really hard on us all with him stuck in his depression rut... I know I know... it's not a fun place for him to be either, and I know it's different for us all, but I am so over it! BUT... there is light at the end of the tunnel, he'll be getting back into work and he is relieved also to be starting back, a little apprehesive, but that's par for the course. AND compensation is running it's course and 'hopefully' we will see something soon! So... I am feeling much happier about our predicament! We have had Darren's mum helping us out financially and I am really thankful to have her as a MIL... well was before, but even more now - you all know what I mean!

Have booked Kellan into Vac Care, even though Darren will still be home - Kel will go stir crazy sitting at home with him for 2 weeks and I'd rather scratch out the money for it than make Kellan sit at home bored to tears! He's really excited... this kid lives to play! Wonder if he'll go into child entertainment when he grows up... one of his fave movies is Big... you know the one with Tom Hanks...?

I did some great LO's for LC's Feature Product... and yes, I AM blowing my own horn! I think these are some of the BEST ones I have ever done! But of course, that's my opinion... and although others might not like them {they're pretty busy} I love them... and that's why I scrap! But they are good... keep an eye on the site, they'll be there soon!

My scrap style is changing everytime I scrap... I think it's because I have finally ventured past the Basic Grey into other worlds, as well as getting my hands on lots of funky product! But I'm enjoying the changes in me... my Sunshine one is my favourite at the moment! Using Rusty Pickle Papers from LC's, some Carol-Lea's Paper & SEI letters from Tarisota and Kraft {my first Kraft moment - Nic & Erica would be proud} from Chelle's new store Scrap'n'Crazy... and some bwootiful hand sewing {thread thanks to a RAK from Kerry}. I used Heidi Swapp paints... hmmm not too fussed with these. The colour... yep the colours are to die for, but it has no body and I needed 3 coats to cover the chipboard letters... I much prefer my Making Memories ones. However one thing in Heidi Swapp defense... they have the best glossy finish!

What else... oh I spent about 2 hours sorting all my chipboard letters yesterday. Got sick of riffling through them only to find I'm missing an 'S'. So I split them all up... positive and negatives are separate. Have kept 2 of each outsides. Don't have a cow everyone... I rarely if ever use them.. so have kept 2 so I have one to use and one as a template! The rest are all together in bags alphabetically on a big ring. I can flick through and pull out what I need nice and quickly... it will also help me overcome the mixed font phobia I have... as you can see by the 2 LO's above it's working a treat!! The outsides I had spare are going to be RAK'd to the ladies who nearly died that I was going to ditch them!! Most of the Rebekka Erickson ones were kept however... they are the perfect size for me!

I finally found a great use for all my old Creative Stickers... expensive as they were... Kellan is now making the best sticker collages out of them! Has kept him occupied for quite a few hours!!

OK... see... nothing to say, boring as all heck and if you have made it this far... big kiss!! Go check out the Scrappi Dais Blog... it's cool!!

Missy's been boring...

OK... time for a blog session! Sorry I have been soooo boring of late! But honestly it's been quite a quiet life in a sense. Darren is still home from work... we are still waiting on Workers Comp decision... we still have only one wage... but hey, life could be worse and we have each other. So long as we always have one another we can deal with what life throws at us.

I have however had the BEST scrapping weekend I have had in ages. I put the next Angel Medley together with Lynn on Saturday, went and bought some yummy fabrics, cut, folded and packaged them... and then got all inspired and scrapped like a mad thing all weekend. I LOVE putting these packs together... the research, the fabric shopping, the photography, - even the cutting and folding - I really get a kick out of it! So go buy them... then I can keep making them!! They are in the shop @ LC's!!

Anyway I worked on my DT committment this weekend and have produced {in my opinion} some of the BEST layouts I have ever done!! I have this amazing feeling of acheivement, real satisfaction at what I have done. I can't show yet so you'll have to keep tuned at
LC's at the beginning of the month!! I am still LOVING working for Lynn... and Kerry, Vicki and Lee are wonderful to work alongside - so many different and new inspirational ideas to be gleaned from each of them. I think we make a great team, and Lynn certainly makes us feel very appreciated!

Kellan did his first scrapping today... he's very proud of his work and I hope to encourage him to keep doing it!! Here's a pic of what he has created:

Pretty cool hey for a 9yo - well balanced anyway!! The photo was a dud, the Kodak printer had a big time fit and printed this way... Kel found it in my scrap pile and couldn't believe I was going to throw it away... so he punched some flowers and decorated it!!

So anyway... a full week of work ahead of me, wish me luck that I survive it! At least I get paid this week... pay a few bills and hopefully have a little bit left over for me. Oh bugger, committee meeting tomorrow - groan - well at least all the minutes are done, agenda set - and I know I will enjoy seeing everyone again - we have a lovely committee and the staff at SOSC are the best.

Oh I know I have been rabbling and rabbling about LC's... but... I bought these printed alphabet booklets, have been looking at them for a while, but kept thinking nahhh. Well... I am so pleasantly surprised that I'm ordering another set in a different style. The are Heartwarming Vintage Booklets of Altered Alphabets. You cut them out and get 9 of each letter in different sizes and patterns. I have mounted mine onto chipboard and distressed them even more, inked them and then put Dimensional Magic over them and they are FAB!! I feel like I found a little goldmine because I haven't seen these used elsewhere, but they are really versatile and really ME!! For about $15 you effectively get 234 letters - I think that's pretty good value!! Scrappi Dais girls - I'll bring them over when we meet up so you can have a see IRL!!

OK... that's about it! Lisa - hope that was enough to keep you entertained for at least 2 minutes!! {Love ya chickadee!} Until next time - happy blogging!!

Tag Time!!

Sorry for the Blog neglect... too much happening but nothing to say! I did however get tagged by Lisa!!

What scrapbook lines/products, etc. do you dislike? Ummm bad quality ones... I'd rather pay more for good quality then get a 'bargain' that stuffs up! As to brandings etc... not putting my hand up to any as they are getting better and better all the time, each time I decide I don't like one they go and get all cool & funky on me!!

What is the hardest thing you have ever had to scrap? On an emotional level none, lucky so far. On a 'too hard' level I struggled with Urban Lily papers... but love them now!!

What technique do you use more than anything else? Some form of distressing... usually sanding... love it!!

What is the smallest scrap of paper you save? Generally if it's about 2 inches wide and 4 high it will be kept... the other bits go in the bin, or Kellan punches little flowers from them.

Have you ever had any scrapbook related injuries? LOL... no - I leave that to Lisa!! Unless we can count a stitch in my side from laughing when scrapping/chatting with the girls!!

Finish this sentence, "If I wasn't a scrapbooker/stamper, I would
spend my money on..."
Shoes!!

Give us your best storage or organizational idea. My thin wide drawers on wheels... 10 drawers high and rollable... perfect!!

You just won a week long scrapbooking cruise for 5. Who is going with
you?
Easy... Chelle, Donna, Flee, Lisa, Karen & Kim... yeah I know... that's 7 including me, but Chelle and Lisa are short, Donna's thin... they can be one person!!

When you received your first publication notification, who did you tell? And if you are not yet pubbed, who will be the first person you share the news with? OK, I was so excited it's a blur but I think it would've been : first person... Lisa... 2nd person... Lynn.... 3rd person... hubby.... then anyone that would listen to me!!

OK... my time to Tag!! Fiona, Melanie, Ali P...
