ATC's - Fly Be Free

Here are the latest ATC's I have done with the gorgeous gals at SharonManning.com, the theme was Winged Things and I've tried to do something funky... not really achieved it, but had a play with some techniques Popcorn showed me and had fun.

One technique was the credit card technique, which I could get nothing to look like how Popcorn does it, but was happy with the pink/silver metallic effect on the background. Then I got my hands dirty... yes, I did... and burnished the ancient silver butterflies, I know they might be daggy now but I still love them! And then off course cut sik with the kindy glitz. Dragged out some funky fibres and wove them in the background... this is 'supposed' to represent the freedom from the cocoon and the flittery flight of the butterfly aka Fly Be Free... rofl, I did say supposed to!! And then added heaps of bling... coz I love bling!

Another LO of the Retreat...

I know... not much for a whole weekends worth of work... but I've lost my mojo, KarenM stole it I'm sure! She keeps telling me how she's scrapping up a storm while all I have is a slight breeze!!

Anyways... got the one of the Think Pink theme for Saturday night at the retreat done... we really thought pink, solid pink... was such FUN!!!

I'm scrapping 8x8, so this has a double page as the front and then they each open like a gate fold to create a 4 page spread... such fun to do! Had a BALL with the Prima Say it in Crystals... and if you want some, there are still some in the shop... going like hotcakes though!! What I like about these beauties is how easy they are to use. Have you tried the Heidi Swapp or Kaiser joined words or shapes and find they twist and move and create a mess... well not these, the carrier is thick and holds the shape until you're ready to stick em down!! Perfect for a lazy scrapper like me!!

If you click on the pics you'll get a bigger image, especially for the 4 page one.

Anyway... other than that, not much to report. Life's a bit quiet atm, which should be good... but after all the excitement of the last month I'm a bit deflated, you know how it gets.

Hopefully will have some more to share soon... have heaps of pics for once {yeah get up off the floor peoples}, just no scrapping mojo... always the darn way hey!!
Until next we 'meet'... take care of you!

Some more LO's...

The mojo isn't flowing very well this weekend, but I have made a start on my album for the Boxx Retreat pics... plus one for a challenge at SnC. Simple but scrapped...

Where we spent the first few hours... drinking and giggling on the balcony of the pub!

Lisa doing the Worlds Greatest Shave, so proud of her!!

Obviously this one is for the challenge @ SnC. Buy a kit {great value for $10}, follow the sketch using the bits and enter to win... too easy!! Love this pic of Dags... was taken while chatting with KarenM and Jules in the backyard the Monday after the retreat.

Hope everyone is having a great Easter... drive safe if you're travelling!!

LO's from the Retreat!

Bit of a sad effort hey... a whole 4 LO's!! I do have another thing to share but it's not quite finished yet, it's a little mini album which took me most of Saturday to get done, have now got the pics in it, just need to do the titles and journaling... so will share soon!!

My Man

The above is Dags of course {and yep, he's healing ok, has a bit of damage done to his back but is on the mend}. I've used Kraft, MM Kraft PP, MM Noteworthy Diecut {that KarenM gave me a heap of as a pressie... I'm a bit lucky!!}, some old 7 Gypsies PP that is PERFECT for a background PP, BG Alphas, DeJaViews Chipboard and some tag from years ago that I 'think' is 7 Gypsies as well.

Sandalford

Took these last Thursday with my new camera... {Fuji FinePix SD8000F or something like that}. Papers are some Daisy D's and Basic Grey Perhaps {I think} and some more 7Gypsies PP, a MM Noteworthy Journal Page, MM & Prima flowers, Kaiser Rhinestones, HS Bling Border, Buzz'n'Bloom Diva Alphas.

How to Chuck a SICKIE!!

Very simple, but much fun! This one has Stemma PP, Scenic Route B/Ground, Prima flowers, Scenic Route Chipboard, BG Chipboard Alphas and I used my StampinUp Punch for the holes... LOVE this tool!!

Stunning

Isn't she just gorgeous! I love scrapping Lily! I've used Bazzil, Autumn Leaves Diecut PP, K&Co Diecut Photo Matt, Kaiser PP, DeJaViews Journal Sticker, Prima Say It in Crystals Swirl {am still trying to get my hands on more of theses}, MM & Prima Flowers and yummy Velvet Thickers {these are TO DIE FOR YUMMY}.

No LO's to Share!!

Nope... nada... none!

Am saving my creative energy {or what there is of it} for the Boxx Retreat next weekend! Am mega excited as KarenM is coming with me, and now Lisa and Karen are coming as well!! GailW is coming over from TSV so I get to meet her IRL as well... is going to be one wonderful weekend!! So there will be me, Chelle, Cath, KarenM, Karen, Lisa & Gail all spending a very fun weekend together! And we know Toni lots better now thru SnC so will be great to see her again as well... I'm so looking forward to it all!

We've all been rabbling at SnC over the Pink theme night, is going to be so fun. I've unearthed a pink fairy tutu my mum made me for a Be 3 dress up party... and I have a pink wig, and one on order if it gets here on time, and pink clogs and a pink boa... hehehe... OMG I sooooo can't wait to see 50 or so women all dressed in pink... I think Augusta is going to be afraid... very afraid!!

Oh and all this helped me decide what I NEED to have for my 40th next year... Karaoke Limo for us girls with a Fuschia and Feathers theme, because I soooo love pink and dress ups and girly girl stuff! And the Karaoke Limo's are the BEST fun!!! So that's why I have a wig on order as well... be better quality and will last for the party next year!!

So KarenM arrives here Wednesday morning... sooo can't wait to see her again! We plan to visit a few wineries on Wednesday and maybe have a leisurely lunch at Jane Brook... Thursday we'll spend getting ready for the retreat. Then on the Monday, Peta, Nes and Jules are coming over to catch up... and for Jules to meet the WA girls from SW... will be such fun! So I think poor Karen is going to get home exhausted!!

Sooooo going to be busy the next couple of days. Haven't done much this weekend as getting the house clean before Karen gets here, have had Kahli over since Thursday while her mum gets a very needed holiday... so I've not had a lot of time to clean up because I've been running around after 2 kids. Yeah... I know... MOST of you have worse to deal with, but I've only had the one kid for 11 years, 2 is a shock and she's not mine... so the mean mummy voice doesn't work as effectively on her as it does on Kel as she knows there's no repercussions!!

They're fine really... but sometimes they act just like siblings and nag nag nag and bitch and moan... rofl!! Well most of you know the scenario!! That's quite new to me as well because there was 7 years between me and my sister... BIG learning curves happening in this house!

Soooo anyway... she goes home tomorrow night... so that leaves Tuesday night free for me to spotlessise the whole house... who needs sleep anyway!! And I do work far better under the pressure of a deadline. Dags will help while I'm at work if I ask nice... he's a good boy.

Dags has been home for a few days... there was an intruder at work and he assaulted Darren, guy broke in looking for a fight it seems. So decides to pick on the "red headed skinny poofter with freckles" {in the assailants words}... such a man picking on someone half his size. Luckily Dags has learnt self defence and was able to overcome the guy until the police got there and all is fine now. Well not sure how well the other guy is feeling, but really... that's his problem, well no, we do hope he's ok... but hope he's learnt or is learning his lesson! So Dags was off work as he took a mighty punch to the jaw and has done some kind of damage to his left shoulder, elbow and wrist. The doc thinks he's not broken anything, but they're keeping an eye on it all for a few days. The shift manager phoned him to check and then the owner phoned... Darren was so touched by that. He's really loving working there... and the care the owners and bosses show there for the staff makes all the difference.

Soooo... that's been my weekend!! How's yours been?

Connect

Another word done tonight... with a migraine to boot. Had an idea in my head and had to run with it! Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam" with Binary Code overlay... 2 worlds apart, but both a means to seeking "connection". The pasts need for connection with God and and our form of connection with the modern world! This one is a simple digital composition done in PSE, I couldn't think how to do it traditionally and I like the contrast of such an amazing and historic peice of art, melded and reproduced with todays technology.

Edited to add: Darn it, just realised Jen used the same pic for hers... sorry dear! Hope you don't mind!

ATC's and Art Journal

I've been mid-week busy, something I rarely do... but I was in the mood and Kel and Darren were playing games and didn't need me. So I turned msn, internet and emails off and started on my ATC's for the group at sharonmanning.com, they turned out nothing like I first thought, but I think they far better than I imagined. The theme was vintage, so I've done it true Mistra style and chosen then daintier style of vintage. They're not the "Linda style" that I sooooo love, but she's what I call a true artist and I'm a scrapper... so they're my style, either way I happy with them!! Thanks Jen for the ATC history lesson and the 1, 2, 3 rule... it really helped me get my head around them and understand that I was allowed to do it "my" way!! The lace is hand crotcheted {not by me!!} and the pearls are the ones that were threaded through my hair on my wedding day, and also used on the dress.

And here is the first page for my One Word Art Journal... words are prompted by Emily Falconbridge. I'm 8 weeks behind but plan to get caught up at the retreat. So I've decided to plan this one. Got some heavy card from work and some translucent vellum overlays. The word prompt will go on the overlay and then the art will be a 4x4 peice centred on the 8x8 page. I've decided to try and do them ATC style, have a bit of fun and learn some new things along the way... so will show {hopefully} a development of my art techniques as it goes along!

The stamp is my chrissy present from KarenM, the swirls and 2 birds to represent the 2 of us, following the separate paths that eventually bought us togther. The type in the background is the following: I love you. You are my best friend. Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life. The pearls are the ones from above and the red organza represents the hints of colour we had for our wedding and the see through element represents how our relationship has nothing hidden from one another! LOL... I actually put some thought into the thing!! Oh and the pic is Dags and I on our wedding day... of course!

Scrappy Sunday @ Sharon's

Today I had a wonderful day up at Sharon Manning's house scrapping away with a group of gorgeous ladies! I even managed to get 4 LO's done! Her hubby made a delish lunch of continental rolls and homemade pizza... which was divine. The views were to die for, was pretty close to heaven up there!! Oh and we made the CUTEST little mini album as a make and take... can see myself making many more of these with all my offcuts etc!

So here's the LO's:

Kel watching TV in a box... say no more!!

A pic from Fathers Day last year. The photo was tragic and it wasn't until I learnt to do the vintage thing in photoshop that I managed to make it look acceptable! So finally it has been scrapped!

Kel playing his games... hard to get good shots of game play so another tragic shot, but this part of his life needs to be recorded, to look back and laugh or look back and thing wow, so he was addicted even back then!!

And this one of our meeting with Gloria, my MIL's cousin. She is one lady with the soul of an angel... she's simply gorgeous!

Soooo... I'm joining in the ATC club on Sharon Manning's forum... this is going to be a HUGE learning curve, but should be fun. I've already started... well I have lace, pearls and some antiquish paper... 1st theme is Vintage... eek!!

And then... I'm going to have a go at the Art Journals the girls have been working on. I've been drooling over Cath's and Jen's for weeks and they are simply gorgeous IRL... and Vicki had one as well and it was gorgeous... so I thought it would be nice to have one for myself. I'm weeks behind but I'm going to work on it at the retreat and catch up there... saves me freaking over finding photos!!
