English Rose - Tutorial

I was playing this afternoon, trying to get my peony die flowers to look a little more like a peony... and ended up creating these little lovelies!!  To me they look like the gorgeous David Austen Roses, those thick damask style roses I adore... and so, I have called them "English Roses".  I hope you like them!

Pink Cardstock {or preferred colour}
Donna Salazar's Mix’d Media Inx by Colorbox, Jasmine
Clearsnap Glue Gloss, Brad, Water Mister, Heat Gun

Cutting Machine {Spellbinders Grand Calibur, Provocraft Cuttlebug etc}

Using 4 varying sizes of petal dies, cut 5 each of the 2 larger petals, 4 of the next and then 3 of the smallest one.

Layer all the cut petals, smallest to largest, with all the petals offset from the next.  Secure with a brad.

Mist with water, top and bottom and between the layers.

Fold up one petal at a time, layer by layer, over the top of the brad, 'squish' the petals into the center as you go, keeping a tightly formed ‘bud’.  Spray more water as needed through the layers to keep the cardstock wet and malleable.

Once done, swipe the white ink across the top of your closed flower, and then spray with more water to allow the ink to bleed.

Dry with a heat gun, helping the outer layers open slightly.  It will take time to dry right through, leave overnight if your heat gun is very hot… to save burning the paper.    Once dry, touch the petal edges with glue gloss and then sprinkle with fairy dust glitter.
