Deep in Thought - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi everyone!  Today I have a boy style layout to share with you.  Kel let me take some photos for once, so I was hanging to get a little grungy!  This one is my favourite... him contemplating life, or thinking of how he can get another $2 out of me for the grab machine LOL!

I love Donna's Sprockets Die set!  I've cut them out of matching papers and glued them onto the matching chipboard from Want 2 Scrap.  I inked them with the new Stormy Mix'd Media Inx and then blinged them up with some matching Bling, again from Want 2 Scrap.

The Shadow Flowers Die is a great all rounder, one of my favourites.  They always add a little bit of visual interest, softening elements on the page without being 'too much'.  I've also cut some branches from the Mix'd Media Elements Die set and tucked them in with the Shadow Flowers.  The edges were all inked with Stormy Mix'd Media Inx to add definition.

I've used lots of paper layers here, and raised the photo off the page with offcuts of the corrugated board under the matt.  To maintain the edge patterned of the papers, they were cut into odd quarters and wet, then scrunched up and unraveled.  Then they were glued with edges overlapping which I used as a feature, rolling the joins up to reveal the other paper underneath.  The rigidity of Donna's papers allows the water to soak in slowly and create wonderful 'worn' areas once they are flattened out again.  With the denim texture prints this makes it look like a pair of old well loved jeans!

Luxuriate - Green Tara

Hiya everyone!  I found this photo somewhere on the net, either Pinterest or Facebook, and was moved by it.  The books wrapped in scrap paper, the pretty flowers, the gorgeous colours!  So it had to be scrapped.. I'm going to frame this one and use it as decoration in my scrap room.

It's a simple design, but the patterns in the paper, and all these gorgeous flowers, ribbons and lace from Green Tara make it look just right!

I've used polka dot organza and the herringbone ribbon to create 2 bows.  I love bows, especially on soft feminine layouts!

These Batik Vintage Asters were the perfect shades to match the papers and the photo... how sweet are they!?!  I love the green stamen centres on these as well as the mottled pattern on the petals.

I've tucked in some cherry blossoms and white roses with the asters and layered some petals to tuck in under the cluster edges.  I've also folded over some little offcuts of the polka dot organza and herringbone ribbons to make little 'tabs', which I have tucked in under my photo and paper layers to add interest.

Thanks for visiting, until next time... take care of you!

Sunshine - Green Tara

Hi lovelies!  Today I have a little bit of sunshine to share with you.  The theme for my blog this year is sunflowers, to help bring a little shine to my life, but somehow they are also making into my scraproom, which is a great thing!!

I snapped a photo of one of my 'fake' sunflowers and popped it on Instagram and thought why not scrap it.  I love this deep yellow and thought it would make a fun change in colour to scrap.

When looking through my Green Tara stash I found this rather 'out there' wired orange organza ribbon with green and yellow flowers, and knew right away I had to use it for this layout, isn't it fabulous!!  Softened with a sweet bow of white polka dot organza it really has become a wonderful feature on my page.

I have layered some 10cm Petals which I have trimmed in half first, White Petals, Gardenias and sweet little Yellow Roses to create a couple of sweet bouquets of flowers!   The Petals have very quickly become a new favourite of mine, proving that nothing in scrapping truly is 'old', everything can be used again in different ways, a great product is always a great product!

I've also tucked in some velvet leaves to add a little more luxury and some sweet little bows.  These bows are ready made and are soooo iddy tiny, I couldn't tie them that small myself if I tried!

Thanks for visiting today... I hope this has brought a little bit of sunshine your way also!

The Pond - The Dusty Attic

Hi everyone!  Today I have another layout featuring a little of Central Park... such beauty in the midst of all that hustle and bustle!!

[click image for a larger view]

I have used this fabulous Leafy Flourish #2 from Dusty Attic's April Release, such a beautiful shape for this page!

It was first painted with Dusty in Colour "Crushed Olive" and then inked with Mix'd Media Inx Chox in Sparrow and Sage to add some toning.

I've also popped in some sweet Dusty Roses with my handmade flowers.

The cute mini ABC set has fast become a 'must have' in my stash... they are the perfect size to accentuate a title.   These were simply inked with Sparrow Mix'd Media Inx Chox for a quick finish!

Thanks for stopping by today... until next time, take care of you!

Sweet Lily - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi everyone!  Today I have a sweet girly layout to share with you of my niece Lily.  She's a social butterfly this one, always the chatterbox... I simply adore her!

[click on the image for a larger view]

I've used a whole pile of Donna's Natural Beauty papers for this one... all those lovely pinky tones, perfect for a feminine page.

I even tackled the Bitty Blossoms, yes 'tackled'... we don't get along so well, likely because they are sweet and neat and I'm a messy grungy girl LOL!  But, really... they are such an easy peasy die to use, and this page needed those flowers to smooth off my grungy Rose Creations ones.  I have to admit, I'm pretty pleased with them, especially with the sweet Pearl centers!

I still made my smooshed Wild Roses as well... I really got the layers soaked this time and they are a little more tattered than usual, love it!!

I made a double ruffle with some of the paper offcuts... love all the handmade elements on this page!

I have used one of Donna's fabulous new Stencils from Want2Scrap... the little hearts were so so sweet I couldn't resist!  I have used texture paste over the stencil and once dried sprayed with TeaParty Smooch Spritz which I also tinted with a little Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx ReInker.

And finally finished the layout off with Donna's chipboard alphas, which I left just as is!

Thanks for stopping by today... until next time, take care of you!

Art Deco ATC - The Dusty Attic

Hi everyone!  This month our ATC Theme at Dusty Attic is "Art Deco".  I love Art Deco style, those smooth stylised lines and bold colours, all those fabulous things that encompass all that is the 20's/30's.  I didn't have much in my stash that was perfectly art deco, these chippy pieces are a little more art noveau, but the image is perfect Art Deco, how fabulous is it!!

I have inked the base frame with black ink and painted the name plate with Mountain Meadow Paint then edged and highlighted with Liquid Gold Leaf and Black ink, then glossed it all up with Dusty's Clear Gloss Varnish.

Take the Time - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #20

This is the last layout for Issue #20 of Australian Scrapbook Ideas... this is my gorgeous sister.  You'd never meet someone with a more beautiful soul than hers.  This photo was taken at Christmas and I've added some meaningful words for the time, it's a bittersweet time... even more-so now.  She was going through perhaps the hardest thing anyone ever should go through, and amazing as she is she gave it her everything.  But to do that, you have to 'come home to yourself' as much as you can... you need to keep that so that you can continue giving.    Love you Nev!!

I used gorgeous peach and orange tones to offset the fabulous aqua/teal in the wood pattern of the "Elegant" paper from Donna Salazar's Botanique collection.

Sweet Green Tara Flowers... I love the 'floppy' Pincushion flower, it's soft and gentle on a page and so very versatile.

Cute little Antique Brass Charms from Handmade Halo... the clock for taking 'time' and the bee is symbolic of my sister, her first little tattoo was a cute little bee.  Charms are fabulous tools for helping emphasise more of the story on your layout.

Love this fabulous chippy piece from Dusty Attic, love the way it flows and accents the page without being visually heavy.

A gorgeous little find from Handmade Halo, nestled under a cluster of Green Tara flowers... love perfect little finds like that, they add so much understated elegance to a page!

Thanks again for stopping by... I'll have more to share with you soon!

You can find the full materials list and step by step instructions for this layout in Issue #20 of Australian Scrapbook Ideas.

Smile - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #20

My third layout for Australian Scrapbook Ideas #20 is a masculine one... I needed something more boys style among all the pretty girlish layouts!  This is my son Kellan, a while ago now but it's such a have photo of mine that I love scrapping it.

I have used lots of fabulous Dusty Attic Cogs for this one, some eyelets, buttons and some Handmade Halo Dew Drops... all those great circular elements add such flow to the layout.

There's a photographic step by step layout on how I achieved the finish on the cogs in the Magazine.

Thanks for visiting... I'll have the last layout from this article to share in a couple of days!

Mis and Mich

I created this the other day... lotsa yummies that I found at Tomorrow's Memories!   Love love love that blue/grey toned range from Kaiser - it's called Forget Me Not.  I had originally grabbed this to do a layout of my mother, because that's her fave flower... but used it to scrap Mich and I instead because added with all those earthy tones it was just us!   Missing this gorgeous girl... we just never get to spend enough IRL time together... thank heavens for modern technology that allows us to chat every day!

I've created a ruffle.. .because I can, and they're my fave and I love them!
The butterfly is a wood one from Kaiser, I inked it with some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink {I know, don't fall over... I think it's the first time I've picked it up since I discovered Donna's Mix'd Media Inx}, and then added a little crackle accent to glue some glitter, and then coated the whole shebang with crackle accents.. love the finish!

The crochet trim is Kaiser as well... it comes with a few on a card, I think I've used about half a pack in this layout alone, tucking it in here and there, creating the ruffle and tying bows with it also.

Thanks for popping by!  Take care of you...
