Purple Gift Box - Green Tara

Today I have to share with you my very last post as a member of the Green Tara Design Team. I decided to make a sweet little gift box topped with some beautiful flowers and my favourite ribbon.

I edged the lid of the box with Silver Diamante Trim, adding some elegance to the box and tying in the silver butterfly charm and foil pattern on the paper.

The lovely lavender and lilac tones worked so well together…

It has truly been an honour to have been a part of this wonderful team for the last few years… I still remember the absolute excitement when I received the phone call asking me to join the team.  It was a dream come true!  Thank you Alison and Di for everything, it has been a fabulous experience working with such quality products, and people!  xoxo

Tranquility - Green Tara

I started this layout wayyyy back in February this year… and I just couldn't quite get it happening.  This weekend gone I pulled it out again and it all came together so easily.  Just goes to show that sometimes it's best to just walk away and try again later!

The one part of the layout that was working for me were the Green Tara flowers.  I had chosen my favourite Cherry Blossoms, Sakura, flat Petals, Roses and a Moss Wild Rose.

The White Flower Lace Ribbon helped add just that little more white to balance the layout.  This lace is very versatile, it can be layered, used as is or cut up to add tiny accents.

Love These Two - Green Tara

Our gorgeous goddaughter stopped with us a few days on her way down south, and again on her way back home, and as always it was so wonderful to see her.  Unfortunately like all 16yo girls, trying to get a photo of her is near impossible, so when I get some they become my treasures!

This layout was a quick snap of Kel and her… Kel as always being a total goose, and Courtney trying her best to tolerate him.

I adore this Sage Satin Rosette, the colour is most divine and was perfect for the papers.  I felt the shape of it also would be a lovely compliment to the Sprightly Sprockets I've used on the layout.

The white flower clusters soften the sprocket clusters...

I have used the Flat Petals under the flowers and sprockets as it emulates the teeth on the cogs...

The "Love" is a wood veneer laser cut, I spray painted it white and then coated with with Fairy Dust Glitter.

Fun Days - Donna Salazar Designs & Scrap Around the World

Us lucky girls at Donna Salazar Designs were invited to play with the current Scrap Around the World Challenge and here's my creation!

And here's the Mood Board and Sketch...

This mood board was gorgeous, hosted by the always lovely Jessy Christopher.  I chose the follow the sketch closely for once, and selected the lovely pinks, yellows and mint from the mood board.  I concentrated on the polka dots in one of the images, the lacey topped vases and was inspired to use a type font from the typewriter image.

Donna's Family Jeans range had the perfect tones {and lotsa polka dots} for this challenge!
I couldn't help but make a cute ruffle for this page... and the yellow hounds-tooth pattern was just right!

I also added some fabric tape {love this stuff}, some self adhesive crotchet trim, sweet little daisies and I made my own fabric covered button!

I used some canvas from Want2Scrap and Spellbinders Wonderful Wings dies to cut some canvas butterflies.  I decided to leave these plain this time... the colour matched the vintage doilies so well it would be a shame to colour them.

The GCD chipboard alphabet was touched with some Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx to add a little more definition...

I had a load of girly fun creating this one!  I really loved working with a mood board, letting the images call out and help me choose elements for the page!  If you've not played along at Scrap Around the World, do yourself a favour and stop by!   I think I'll be using Helen's site a lot more often for wonderful inspiration!

Home Sweet Home - Donna Salazar Designs

Hiya everyone!  Today I have a sweet little layout to share with you all, with just a couple of snippets of my home.

We built this home back in 1995 and we're still there.  We planted native gardens so they'd be easy care, and through winter it all gets a little overgrown.  Until the first signs of Spring when my hubby gets the mower fired up and mows the lawns so we can find the garden beds!  It won't be long until all the native flowers are in bloom!

I made a ruffle for another project and had some left over, the wonderful thing about using papers printed on both sides is you can just turn it over and you've got a whole new pattern!  Luckily this one was just perfect for this page.

One of the things I love about Donna's Paper Pads is the cut out element sheets.  It's got lots of fabulous embellishments and words, all perfectly matched to the papers in the collection.  For this layout I have cut out some of the cute clouds and the "Home" title from the "Family Jeans" Collection.

I liked the simple look to this one, so only added a few small flowers cut using Donna's Bitty Blossoms Die from Spellbinders.  I have used some of the Mulberry paper from the Mix'd Media Stax 2 and some offcuts from Donna's Antiquities and Spring in Bloom papers.

Thanks for stopping by today!  See you again soon...

New York Patina - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #21

Here's the last layout I have to share with you from Issue #21.  I adore this one... my FAVE sight of NY was the Statue of Liberty, but when I was looking through all the photos, my eye kept coming back to all the patina tones on the buildings as well... so stunning!

For this one I used some larger trinkets I found in my stash.  A lot of them were jewellery findings...

I even cut up some Green Tara Silver Diamante Trim to create my own little trinkets.

Jewellery findings such as brooch backs just all to have a little resin flower added to them...

And others can be easily cut and tucked in under layers.

The Last New Beginning - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #21

My next layout featuring Trinkets is this Finnabair inspired one.  Well a very gentle form of her style anyway!  I've used some of her beautiful papers and her background stamping technique... and yeah that's about all.

I think I should never ever say "the last time" or "always and forever" because the universe seems to see that and laugh at me.  I've put back on 6kg since I did this layout, but I am trying to get back on track... just sometimes there are so many easy excuses as to why not to!

So anyways... I've used some sweet little trinkets for this one, some little brass ones, some resin ones I cast myself and some sweet little dew drops.

I also created a little cluster of trinkets to sit as a flower center...

This one below is a FAVE mould of mine, from Moulds by Mel

Live the Life - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #21

Goodness I've been remiss in sharing my latest magazine commission layouts {I was wondering why I had so many 'drafts' in my blog scheduling}!  Issue #22 is currently out and I've not even shared #21, bad bad Missy!

So... lets get some sharing happening!  Here's the one I'll be sharing today... this issue featured  Trinkets.  I love trinkets so it was a commission from heaven!

For this layout I've used heaps of trinkets that relate to Kel, to help tell a story about what he's all about...

Like  most boys he likes skulls and crossbones, but he also loves chess, music and is an avid recycler {we get in strife if we put things in the wrong bins}.

The key and chain is the chain he always wears that has his house key as well as other precious little 'trinkets' he's collected over the years.

He LOVES owls, so I always try and put an owl somewhere on any pages of his.  The headphones here are to show his love for gaming, he's always got a headset and mic on while playing.

And the shoe... well it's just a boy style trinket and I liked it, so it went on as well LOL!

Project Life - August / September 2013

Okay here we go... I thought I'd share my Project Life pages.  Don't fall over, they are polar opposites to my usual style of creating.  But no matter how much I keep trying to add more to them, I'm really preferring them flat and simple!

So I'm calling the rest of this year 'practice' LOL... and you'll see changes as I change the way I work, things I try etc until I find what sings to me.

I wont explain what's happening in each of them, because the purpose of this is for me to document it all, so it 'should' be explained!  Likely this needs practice too.  I will offer insight into my style journey though... never know, it might help someone somewhere!

If you click on the images it will give you a full screen large view.

So this is where my 'weekly' pages start.  Before this {and still missing journaling} are just pages of particular days, events etc.

For most of these I have used my iPhone5 to photograph everything.  I also use PicTapGo to edit them on the iPhone, and have saved a 'recipe' of filter layers for quick re-use.

These ones used Loft and +Contrast I think, but I found they were throwing too much pink.  It worked fine for the first couple of weeks, but I found anything with pink ended up almost fluorescent!

Here I discovered a different Protector set up... I think I like the variety.
LOL, I'm still laughing at the size of mum's cat.  I could say it was a bad angle, but no, she's huge!

And then I discovered Project Life Digital... it's making those journal cards so much easier to get done!

Sill using PicTapGo I found a better combination of filters which is working for most images. Phew!  I think this was layering Lights On and Auto Contrast.  Saving as a recipe helps you not have to remember what filter layers you used!

I take photos of almost everything that is going on around me... work, near work, home, the pets {lots of the pets}, what we ate, tickets, receipts... everything.  They all come together to tell our story.

Each day I log them into One Day, it reminds me what I did where, what photos I wanted to focus on etc.  I download the pics each week from my phone to the computer and One Day helps remind me where I'm up to.

I have a mini album of my week in Mackay, but I still might slot an insert in to share it in this album too.  I'll see how I go.

I added bumpy stuff... LOL, so excited that the little wood veneer hearts were working for me here.  I've also used a MaMBI Pocket Page Card, as well as some free Digi Downloads from A Little Grace and Mercy.  A quick search on Pinterest gives you LOADS of free digi stuff you can download and use with your pages.

And this one has an insert piece, and I used a Tab Punch from We R Memory Keepers, so cute!
So above is with the insert one way, and then below with the insert page turned.  This was fun, seeing how the page balanced when the insert page was turned.

So that's it... that's my new {to me, since it seems most of the scrap world is doing it already LOL} project.  It's quick, easy and fun... and is allowing me to capture all those little moments in my quiet little life.  Which all added up together, show it's not so quiet after all.  It's reminding me to love all those little moments, because they are what we need to be truly grateful for!
