Penelope

Last month I joined an international Art Doll Swap hosted by the amazingly talented Linda Baldock.  I've wanted to have a play with her style dolls for ages, but as usual just needed the shove to get moving... which came in the form of an invite to join the swap.

Have to admit... I was somewhat daunted once I saw what was being created, there are some extremely gifted people out there!! But... I started, I played, I had a ball and created Penelope:

She's flat and I drew the template for her body all on my ownsome... I cast the face with sculpy clay, baked it and then hand painted her with Golden paints.  I collaged her body with patterned papers and then went and covered it all up with fabric LOL!!  She's dressed in muslin, lace and some of my grandmothers hand crocheted doilies. Sprays of white and cream paper roses were then added, with some iddy vintage buttons tucked in here and there.

I added some Dusty Attic Feathers as a feature, they were screaming to be added!  I gesso'd them and then embossed them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Two Toned Embossing Powder {Angel Wings} and Allison Ellis Embossing Powder {Ivory Sparkle}.  The eye of the feathers was backed with Angelina Fusilble Iridescent Film... love this stuff!

Once she was all dressed and ready I decided she needed colour, as you do!  So I sprayed her with Chalkboard Glimmer Mist in Peacock, then white washed her with gesso... like Anna Dabrowska-Pekocka does on her layouts.  The effect was perfect!!

I am so so happy with her, and will be sad but excited when she starts her journey to the UK this week... hope her new owner loves her!!

Thanks Michelle for naming her... Penelope just suited, clever girl!!

Take care of you.
