Beautiful - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi again!  Today I have a layout to share with you using Donna's Natural Beauty Papers and Diecuts.  These pics are from my trip to New York, I adored the beauty of this church... truly stunning.

I have created some flowers using Donna's Grand Peony, Rose Creations and Bitty Blossoms Dies.  I'm still getting the hang or making the bitty blossoms with my long nails, getting there though.  They are a perfect die to use when you have offcuts left over, love them!

Itty bitty closeups...

I've used some of Donna's new alphas as well.  These are gorgeous, I love the dictionary print on them and they ink up beautifully with Mix'd Media Inx to match your page perfectly.

Until next time... take care!

Take Delight Card - Handmade Halo

A few weeks ago, Corinne at Handmade Halo asked if I'd possibly be interested in joining her team, like seriously... "possibly"?  Heck yes!!  I love Halo's gorgeous little trinkets and resins and get a little lost when I don't have these sweet little tidbits to pop in here and there on my projects... so now I'm one happy little Angel and totally delighted to be a part of the team!

I created this little card for Handmade Halo while I was on a roll creating some other projects.  Sitting on my table was the prettiest mess of pink and flowers and trims that it was a shame to not use them!

I have used a couple of sweet new Silver charms from Handmade Halo as well as some Green Tara Lace, soft pink Pearl Trim and Silk Flowers with Swarovski Crystals.

The Silver Charms - perfect just as is.

Circa 1938 - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to try some different colours for me, yellow and brown tones, they were just right for this old photo of my grandparents.  I have used papers from both the Family Jeans and Fun and Funky lines, the tones worked together perfectly!

I white washed the papers to give it a more 'vintagey' feel.  The chipboard numbers were painted white and then inked with Mix'd Media Inx Chox.  I love how these inks are beautify for shading as they dry almost immediately.

I've torn and scrunched up some snippets of Donna's Crafty Chronicle, these help break the patterns and add interest.

The big brown flower was created using Donna's Grand Peony Dies, originally on a light brown card stock, but I have spritzed it with Candle Glow Smooch Spritz to give it a real autumn tone.

I've tucked in some of the new Diecut Shapes, here using a few of the Banners on matching tones.

Thanks for visiting!  Until next time, take care of you...

Sixteen - Dusty Attic

Hi everyone, today I have this layout I have done for my son... he's just turned 16 and insists on very grungy work from me now, now flowers, no sparkles.  So this Tribal Frame was perfect to help fill the layout!

The frame was painted lightly with cream paint, then inked with Olive Vine, Patina and Truffle Mix'd Media Inx and spritzed with Mountain Meadow paint I had watered down.  After I had glued down the frame I filled some with modelling paste and then spritzed again with Mountain Meadow and Pesto paints.

The corrugated background is also from Dusty Attic.  I used the reverse with the solid paper and tore some away randomly, this was painted with cream and Mountain Meadow paint.

The Typewriter ABC Set was painted with Golden's Micaceous Iron Oxide and Stainless Steel paints, it' about as 'sparkly' as I'm allowed to get these days LOL!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time, take care of you!

Spoilt - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi everyone, today I have a layout created with some of Donna's new Natural Beauty papers.  The peachy rosy tones of these ones were perfect for these roses my friend and hubby surprised me with.

I created some flowers using Donna's Rose Creations die, these dies make it so easy to create gorgeous handmade flowers.  I've just used some cardstock that matches the Natural Beauty Papers, and while scrunched up and wet, dabbed the edges with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx.

I've added layers of delicate lace and some gorgeous peach trim Michelle gave to me, I was saving it for something perfect and this was it!

Some more flowers and I have created a frame around this layout, it's about 1 inch deep!

Fairies and Flutterbies ATC - Dusty Attic

This month's ATC theme at The Dusty Attic is Fairies and Flutterbies {my fave, thanks Jenny!}  I decided to create a 3D one using Dusty's 3D ATC Frame, super cute hey!

The background was covered with tissue paper and then applied some Liquitex Opaque Flakes to one side and them sprayed my little heart out with Smooch Spritz.

The chipboard was all firstly painted white, with some Smooch Spritz applied to the mini scroll, some Smooch Glitz to the Flutterby wings and the Fairy was dressed with Smooch Ink and Smooch Glitz on her dress.  I created new wings for her with the Flutterbies #3 chipboard.

I finished it off with some Green Tara Flowers and sweet Dew Drops from Handmade Halo.

Until next time, take care of you!

One Little Word 2013... and goodbye to 2012!

Usually I choose a word to embrace during the year, inspired by Ali Edward's One Little Word project.  The one that worked best for me one year was "Breathe", mostly because I literally had to remember to breathe properly when under stress or I was hit with very unsettling dizzy spells.  It still works for me, I think that word will be my personal mantra word for years to come.  If I was brave enough to get a tattoo, it would be that word!

Last year I didn't really choose anything, although I eventually embraced "enough", from a phrase that someone shared with me:

"May we all have:
Enough happiness to keep us smiling,
Enough trials to keep us strong,
Enough sorrow to keep us human,
Enough hope to keep us happy,
Enough failure to keep us humble,
Enough success to keep us eager,
Enough friends to give us comfort,
Enough enthusiam to look forward,
Enough faith to banish depression,
Enough determination to make
each day better than yesterday"

In a year of turmoil, with massive ups and down, learning that I had 'enough' helped so very much and I am forever grateful to her for helping me embrace this.

See... 2012 was a true roller coaster of emotions and I hung on to my word 'enough' like my life depended on it.

One of the bad parts was my hubby needing to quit working because of his battle with depression.  That rocked my foundations, going from plenty to having just enough and having to put my own needs and battle with melancholy aside to help him through his.  But the absolute totally sucky part was my BIL being diagnosed with cancer, which is now terminal.  He's fighting with everything he has to make it through to each goal he has set.  He's got spirit that man, you can see it burning in his eyes.  We all know it's going to win eventually... but not without a fight, and it's definitely going to be later than sooner because none of us are giving up hoping.

But there has been much joy as well, the highlights being:  going on a trip of a lifetime to New York... meeting Natasha, one of my very dearest friends, even though we live half a world away from one another... getting to hug and see my soul sister Michelle again when she came back to WA...and discovering that having Darren at home has reduced my stress ten-fold and that having enough... it's enough for now!

I have gained new friends, misplaced some too, but through all this I have bonded even closer with the handful of people who are within my inner circle of trust.

I have learned that while I can't trust everyone, I need to be open to be happy within myself, no matter the outcome.  If my trust is abused, then its those who have taken advantage of my nature who lose... they lose me, as well as a piece of themselves.

I have learned to say no {finally}, so that I can say yes to the things that are important to me.

And I have learned to slow down, take time out and not stress over everything, sometimes the most wonderful surprises happen when things don't go to plan!

I have also learned from a beautiful soul who I have met online, what I need to find within myself to shine brightly.  She told me I need to "create thoughts of joy, no matter what" and by doing that, those around me will draw from that and be happy also and then it grows and grows.  How beautiful, how true and you can't understand how much I want that, not just for me to be happy, but for those around me to be happy also, I guess my happiness simply needs to come from within. {Thanks H, your words resonate through my mind daily.}

So now... here I am at the start of 2013, wondering what my One Little Word should be.  I have signed up at OLW, to actually do the project this time.  Only trouble was settling on a word and in writing this I have found it!!

This year I want to concentrate on setting my heart free... I don't want to let the negatives sadden me any longer, I don't want allow the unthoughtfulness of others to dull my spark, I want to be better within... I need light, I need radiating happiness, I need my soul to shine!

While looking for a word that fulfills these I found a latin verse "solum omnium lumen" which translated means "the sun shines everywhere" - I love that, the optimism that, no matter what, the light within us can shine free... and what better word than shine to emcompass it all!

So this year, I plan to learn to...

SHINE

and BREATHE...
while remembering I have ENOUGH.

Not too much pressure for One Little Word is it?

Enjoy - Green Tara

Hi again... today I have a layout with some new photos of me!  Finally not a self portrait either, love this photo!  Last year was a roller coaster ride, serious lows with some amazing highs, talk about extremes... I'm hoping for a smoother journey this year.  I know there's going to be some battles to get through but whatever comes, I'm going to enjoy this journey and take comfort in all those wonderful little things!

I have had fun with some big blooms here!!  The stunning Laurel and my favourite Heirloom flowers, Silk Flowers with Swarovski Crystal Centres the beautiful Primula's.

I have placed the title on a Coloured Jute Ribbon background...

Happiness - Green Tara

Hi everyone... today I have a layout of myself and my hubby to share with you, a rare snap because usually one of us is the one behind the camera.  I have used some papers I found in my stash that were a lovely soft grey tone, and had intended on creating a monochromatic colour scheme, but I needed to add some colour and this olive green was just perfect.

I coloured the tips of some white petals with Mossy Mix'd Media Inx, as well as the edges of my paper layers.  The white Cherry Blossoms were sprayed with watered down paint, to match the colour tones I created in the background papers.  They colour so beautifully, without falling apart.

I have used Silk Flowers with Swarovski Crystal Centres, Cherry Blossoms, 3cm Roses and a Primula to create this sweet cluster... the new Primula's are beautiful and just the perfect size!

Here I have accented the flower cluster with Resin Embellishments from Handmade Halo, I love tucking these in amongst my flowers!

I have trimmed up the heart Silver Diamante Trim to create little embellishments, they have a wonderful sparkle to them.  I've also added some Dew Drops just to add that little extra interest to the page - they compliment flower clusters perfectly!

Until next time, take care of you!
