Princess? NOT

This is about as close as I get to acting like a spoiled princess, a plastic tiara! Some days I just wish I could have myself a nice little tantrum to get my way... only because it seems to work so well for others, but I just can't go there, it's not my nature, so I keep my tiara for dress ups only... and for silly photo days!

I have used the large frame from the stunning Baroque Frame Set - Circle {DA0542}. Papers are from Making Memories {Je t'adore Range}.

There is a tutorial on how I did the frame up at Dusty Attic HERE, I'll convert it to a PDF later for easy download but until there it's viewable at Dusty, you'll just have to sign in to see it.

Love these Pink Paislee papers... not my normal style but I loved them nonetheless, so I've applied some of Emeline's styling to them and created this happy bright LO as a challenge for this weekends CC over at Red Earth Scrapping.

I have used Leafy Stems #2 {DA0566} here, loved the simple clean lines of them! 

The leafy stems were painted with gesso and then inked with Smooches, love the subtle colour tonings it produces.

Sorry about the shadowing, this is one of those LO's that just wouldn't photograph well in the shade so needed the direct sunlight...

GCD Antiquities by Donna Salazar: Gentleman

Love these papers, seriously love them!!

I don't usually use flowers on masculine pages {babies excepted LOL}, but not only was my grandfather an engineer, he had the most gorgeous garden and loved his flowers... so I felt he'd be very happy to have flowers with his cogs!

The cogs had all sorts of treatment thrown at them, I was trying out some rusting powder, we didn't get along very well, until I discovered that rust takes that 'time' factor to happen. It activated beautifully with vinegar and being left overnight, it gave it that earthy rough rusty look, and then I added some more paint colours etc over the top to add some more depth.

Sisters: Friends - Inspired by Emeline

Over at Dusty Attic we are having an "Inspired by" challenge each fortnight... just to get us all out of our comfort zones and try new things!  It's great fun and already I have gained so much out of it.  Our first challenge was Emeline Seet's stunning style!

I wandered through her gallery many times carefully looking at what she does that makes them unmistakeably hers, it was great fun and a fabulous learning experience!

I loved the quote Emeline used on her JE Layout so have lifted that as well... it's so true of my sister, so glad she is also a friend to me, someone I can always rely on to get me back on track.

 

I have used Dusty Attic's Scroll #5 {DA0218} here, simply painted with a green acrylic paint to match.

Papers by Websters, Flowers by Prima, Bling by Delish Designs, Button Centre by Tim Holtz, and there's Melissa Frances Vintage Resin Shapes as well, and satin ribbon.

I love Emeline's use of ribbon, and her punchwork... these are elements I think I'll be using more of in my future layouts!

She's Quiet...

I had a ball creating this one!  While spending the day catching up online at Red and Dusty I was also plodding along with this LO.  It took me all day but mostly because I was just enjoying the journey of creating it... it was so fun!  I adore these soft colours lately, flowers, butterflies... heaven!!

The chipboard was dabbed with warm white paint, then sprayed with ChalkBoard Glimmer Mist {Apricot Nectar and Peacock}, and then simply coated with Tim Holtz Crackle Paint {Clear Rock Candy} - simple but effective!

The papers are BoBunny Gabrielle and there's some Websters Bloomers, Prima Trim, Tim Holtz Trim, Prima and Green Tara Flowers, and some gorgeous Glass Butterflies from Kays Kreative and naturally some delicious Dusty Attic Mini Ornate Frame and Botanic Accents #1

GCD Antiquities by Donna Salazar

This month at Red Earth Scrapping I'm focusing on these stunning GCD Antiquities by Donna Salazar Papers, they would have to be favourites of mine for sure!!  I'm a bit of a fan of hers and these papers... just divine!!

Jenevra

This is my gorgeous sister, it's rare she lets me take a photo, so was rapt when I got such a beautiful one of her.

I have used GCD Antiquities by Donna Salazar {Time for Tea}, White and Mauve Cardstock, Paper Doily, Crochet Trim & Doilies, Crochet Flower, Green Tara Flowers and Mini Rosebuds, Prima Innocence Flowers, Zva Pearl Swirl & Pearl Dots, American Crafts Thickers {Emerald Flocked}, Green Tara Silver Sprays, Dusty Attic Skeleton Clock Face and Vintage NamePlate, Green Tara Lace.

The chipboard was painted with white acrylic paint, dabbed with Tim Holtz Distress Stains {Dusty Concordeand Spun Sugar} and then dabbed with more white paint.

Rough Lot

This is my grandfather with some of his workmates when he was working in Port Augusta.  He had written 'Rough Lot' on the back of the photo, so I've titled the LO the same.

The chippies here have been dabbed with warm white paint, then dabbed with Tim Holtz Distress Stains {Dusty Concorde, Wild Honey and Vintage Photo}, then dabbed again with more paint to blend the colours.

This is my grandmother, my grandfather adored her, totally... it was plain as day how much he loved her.  His last words as he left us were "I am going to see Jeannie now, she's waiting for me", so beautiful.

For the chippy, I have first stained with with Tim Holtz Distress Stains {Wild Honey, Weathered Wood, Vintage Photo}, dabbed with with white paint, sprayed it with Chalkboard Glimmer Mist {Charcoal} and then dabbed with more white paint! After this was dry I added spots of Tim Holtz Distress Crackle {Clear Rock Candy} which brings through more intense colours in the parts that are coated.

Chapter One...

the new range from Kaiser!  Love this, love the lime green with teal and black!  This was my DT pack from Tomorrow's Memories... it was the best fun to play with!

Tomorrow's Memories have got all the papers, stamps, paper pads, ticket pads, rubons and all sorts... it's a gorgeous range, one that will suit so many styles!!

Believe...

Was playing the other day {LOL, I must share a story about 'the other day' later}, I've been waiting to play with these wings from The Dusty Attic.  When Jen let us play with the prototypes I had them thrown in water and feathered right away... playing with different finishes etc for our Dusty Day at Tomorrow's Memories, but haven't had the right layout to put some on since.  The other day I decided to just 'play' and created this.  

It's a sweet 4x4 canvas with a lot of mixed media arty farty stuff on it {collage, muslin, impasto, stamping, paint, metal leaf, diamond dust, webbing spray, embossing powders etc}, I had wonderful messy fun!!  I love wings, love angels... I always feel so relaxed and happy when I am creating them, I should just play more often, it's fun!

Oh... the other day:  when Kel was little, we'd ask when he did something and he'd reply 'the other day'... sometimes it seemed odd because we were sure it was month ago or something... but nope, he'd always insist it was 'the other day' {pronounce the uva day}.  It took us a while to realise that Kel had NO concept of time and "the other day" could be anywhere from yesterday to 3 years ago.  It's cute now and every time I or Kel say "I did this the other day" Darren cracks up laughing... just one of those little family things you never want to forget!

Resisting...

nah... no resisting here, as soon as Tomorrow's Memories had the Tim Holtz Kraft Resist Papers out of the box I was there!! 

 

They are oh god I have no words for them... delectable, delicious... yes, all fabulous scrap anything is described with food sensations!!  I have used Finnabair's technique again here {I just love it} and have sprayed the Tim Holtz Kraft Resist with some Luminarte Radiant Rain Mist, it's a bit thicker than Glimmermist and I was interested to see the effect on the darker card, it works pretty well I think!! 

This is myself, my sister and niece... we had a girl's day out last week, was great just us three... Lily gabbled and gabbled {she takes after her grandma} and Nev and I talked and shopped and talked and shopped some more, was bliss!!  I'm tired of making people a priority in my life when I'm not in theirs {yeah, taken me a while to grasp that concept], so have been immersing myself in my family more lately, they are there for me always, as I am for them, and expect nothing in return... I'm lucky to have a couple of friends like that as well, they know who they are, I'm blessed... love them all!!

New Kits for Tomorrow's Memories

I love making up some of the kits that are for sale at Tomorrow's Memories, it's just plain fun!  {But shhhhh, don't tell them that, they think it's like 'homework' or something for us LOL}
