Back to a double for Week 8... lot's happened this week!  this week was my first time using Orange, again from the Slate Core Kit.  It's not a colour I use often, but was perfect here with so many pics of my sweet little Sugar playing with an orange ribbon.

Free to be Me... Reverse Canvas - Donna Salazar Designs

Hi lovelies!

Today I have a mixed media canvas to share with you, using one of my favourite of Donna Salazar Designs chippy pieces, Bonnie's Birdcage

I used the reverse of a deep frame art canvas to create my background and simple scrunched up some printed tissue paper and adhered it with glue'n'seal.  Then I popped it into a spray box and hit it with Smooch Spritz in Green Olive, Caramel Latte and Spun Sugar.  The lace in the background was hand dyed using Smooch Spritz Caramel Latte... these colours are so very versatile!

I made a couple of Worn Roses using Spellbinders Rose Creations Die, the metallic sheen was simply some metallic rub swept over the flower once it was dried.  You can download a tutorial for these roses HERE.

The cage itself was first painted with white spray paint and then inked with Mossy, Honey and Stormy Mix'd Media Inx.  These were blended as I worked to create a soft worn effect.
The chipboard alphas from GCD Studios were simply sprayed with Smooch Spritz to match the background colours.

Then all it needed was a cute little bird popping out from the cage!  It needed something to perch on so I went outside and picked up some twigs and dried grasses that the hot summer weather left for me.

Thanks for popping by today!

Project Life 2014 - Week 7

Week 7... almost caught up!!  I've chosen Red this week, because it was Valentine's Day!  I actually had lots of photos, but really only needed to keep these ones to tell the story.  This is the week that Schapelle was released on parole, I have photos in a foldout under the journalling.

I've used lots of little bits on this one.  My staple Snap Label Stickers {I need to find more of these!}, Black Bakers Twine, little epoxy dots by Teresa Collins, a polka dot button and a chevron flair from Finding Nana.

Project Life 2014 - Week 6

Week 6 and the Slate Core Kit and I are getting along a lot better now!  Just the one page again - mostly food related!

I had to use the 'no joke' card for this one... I baked.  I don't bake, I used to but I haven't for years.  Most people thought I was joking when I said I had baked a cake!

This week I've added some little epoxy dots from Typo, an iddy Tim Holtz Chatter sticker and the "hello" sticker is from Jillibean Soup.

Project Life 2014 - Week 5

Week 5 today... catching up!  This time I've used the Lime Green cards from the Slate Core Kit, loving this fresh bold colour.   Again just the one page this week.

I had a big spring clean {in summer} of the kitchen this week... got it from a cluttered mess to the least amount of things on the counter top as I could.  Ahhhhh, nice!  It's still the same now, 5 weeks on.  Loving having order back in the house.

For this week I have used the Snap Stickers again, Bakers Twine again to hand stitch and accented with a Heidi Swapp epoxy butterfly and a little wood veneer butterfly from Studio Calico.

Little Things - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #25

This is such a sweet layout... I decided to scrap about all the little things around me that make those little differences!

I really do love scrapping with girly papers and flowers, and colours... and photos, but then, don't we all!

I fell in love with these ultra delish "Messy Head" papers from 7 Dots - you can still get them at Natasha's "Moments of Tranquility" store online HERE.

The little heart here was made from UTEE... I really did like making my own lightweight embies from UTEE, will be doing more again I'm sure!

Full Step by Step Instructions for this, and many other fabulous layouts, can be found in Australian Scrapbook Ideas #25.

Project Life 2014 - Week 4

Here's Week 4... just the one page this week.  These weeks were the lead up to my ex's {wow, that's the first time I've 'said' that} leaving date so were pretty stressful, however Kel and I tried to make the best of it all - Australia  Day was definitely a fun day for us!

Here I've used the Slate Core Kit again, accented with Washi, Bakers Twine for Stitching and I think the little Heart is an Amy Tangerine Chipboard Sticker.

Chillin' - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #25

I love this photo.  It was a quick snapshot I took of us just chilling out together in the lounge room.  Kel reading a book on his computer, Coco half asleep on the couch.  It was one of those wonderful quiet relaxed afternoons!

For this layout I used a stencil and UTEE to create my own background.

I'm also enjoying tucking in little 'banners' as accents lately!  And look... no flowers!!

A closeup of the stencilled UTEE background...

Full Step by Step Instructions, including materials used, can be found in Australian Scrapbook Ideas Magazine, Issue #25.

Project Life 2014 - Week 3

Here's my Week 3!  I drew out the yellow tones on this one, love the yellow teamed with grey lately, even though it does remind me of my old school uniform!

Believe - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #25

Today I have a favourite from Issue #25 of Australian Scrapbook Ideas, this one is of my beautiful god-daughter.

She's such a photogenic girl, and I love that Facebook makes it easy to keep in touch, visually as well as 'writtenly' {LOL yes I know that's not a word}.  It allows me to nick photos she puts on her timeline so I can have a girly scrap fix!

{click on the layout image for a larger view}

This article was all about using UTEE... one of my favourite embossing powders.  It's always served me well with the things I put it through on chipboard, but this feature helped me discover all the other wondrous things I could do with it!

The little grey flower above is made from UTEE... how cool!

And this chipboard was dressed with layers of inks and UTEE - there are Step by Step visuals on how to do this in the magazine.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope that you find inspiration here... for more fabulous layouts, with step by step instructions, pick up a copy of Australian Scrapbook Ideas at participating newsagents, or you can subscribe online HERE so you'll never miss an issue!

Project Life 2014 - Week 2

Here's Week 2... it already feels like it was so long ago!  There was lots of hot temperatures which led to lots of nasty fires, with quite tragic endings.  I hate summer here in Australia for this reason.

I love the little half pages, they are perfect for when I don't quite have enough to show or say to fill a double, but have more than what would fit on a single.

I have used Becky Higgin's Slate Core Kit and have added some cute epoxy stickers from Heidi Swapp, some Washi Tape, Cloth Tape, Staples, Tabs and Hand Stitching.

Christmas Blessings - Australian Scrapbook Ideas #24

I am so far behind 'sharing' all my work I have been doing!  I am forgiving myself though... but it's time to get back into it and start sharing with you all... so over the next few weeks I'll be catching up with my Australian Scrapbook Ideas commissioned articles as well as my Project Life pages.

Here's one from Issue #24 of Australian Scrapbook Ideas, there were a couple more in there, but this one I adore and want to share even though it's old now.  Those 2 cute little munchkins are Natasha's children - I just want to scoop them up in a big hug!   Thanks again for saving me with the perfect photos for this page!

This article was all about using gorgeous velvet, loved it!

For this layout I made cute little bows and stamp embossed some leaves.  There's a step by step visual "how to" for the stamp embossing in the magazine, it's so easy and so very effective.

I made a paper ruffle from glittery chevron paper - I really love how the chevron looks once 'ruffled'.

For Step by Step Instructions on how to create this layout - look for Australian Scrapbook Ideas Issue #24.
