Mojo...

Where for art thou!!   It's really gone walkabout I think... hmmm Ms JenB, you still have it don't you!

Hoping it comes home tonight... today I taught a class at Tomorrow's Memories for the 2 Dusty Attic Dream Date winners Mabel and Jolande and their friends... such lovely ladies and such a great class.  Then I got to play with some Dusty [oooh some new designs, just wait until these are released - heaven]... soooo anyways, you would think that with all that creativity around me all day I'd be off and running.  Not quite, I'm hoping it's because it is too hot in our house.  Maybe tonight after the sun goes down.

I did come home with some embossing powders and some glitter, so so so nice this glitter, it's by Alison Ellis {the glitter} and it's superfine... can't wait to see the house covered in it LOL!!

Sigh... so I am surrounded with gorgeous things and no mojo.  Maybe I should just go decorate some Dusty and play, there's always mojo for that!

Take care of you.

Psst.... over here!

A little Red birdy told me that if you're looking to try your hand at being a part of the Creative Team at Red Earth Scrapping, then you might just want to keep an eye out in the forums because the search for a new CT member will begin on 16th January 2011.

Red Earth is a warm and friendly online shop & community, it's down to earth and filled with 'real' people {there are certainly no Diva's}!   As a CT member we are well rewarded and made to feel like we are an integral part of the business, Helen is fun, understanding, supportive and certainly not over demanding... it's definately the CT you are looking to be a part of!!

So join up, keep an eye out for the announcement and step up for your chance to join the Red Earth Team!

Take care of you.

Make Life an Adventure...

My feral nephews {but I love 'em}, aren't they the cutest though.  Both so different, so alive and so smart... likely too smart for their own good!!  Love this pic mum took of them, up a tree like kids should be!

This chippy was inked, painted, misted, then UTEE'd with Clear as well as an Iridescent Green, then dabbed with some Luminarte Daubers, sprayed with glimmermist while the UTEE was hot, and also some Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder added... I just love that the DA chippy can handle all those treatments and still hold together perfectly, because there are times I need to keep adding and adding until it's just the way I want it too look!

I have used: BoBunny Cambridge Papers, Dusty Attic Tribal Swirl, Websters Card, 7 Gypsies & Tim Holtz Metal Cogs, Carolee's Alpha Stickers and BabyFace Cuttlebug Font.

Take care of you.

Always

Have to say, I'm loving the new publishing thing here on blogger... BIG pics!

I created this for Tomorrow's Memories using the NEW Basic Grey Curio Papers, aren't they just DELISH!!  They'll be on the floor at TM's soon!

I also used some of the ever so sweet Dusty Attic Fancy Trim and Doilies, love the Daisy Scallop on these.

The chippy has been inked {TH Worn Lipstick & Vintage Photo}, painted {Adirondack Sandal} and sprayed with Pearl Glimmermist.  I'll be demonstrating the 'how to' technique on this for the special Dusty Attic Dream Date at Tomorrow's Memories next Tuesday, can't wait because it's going to be SUCH fun!

Other products: Part of a Websters Journal Card, Prima & Green Tara Flowers, Crochet Doily, Maya Road & Jenni Bowlin Pins, Zva Pearl Flourish, Prima Trims, Prima Pebble

Best of Times

Mojo has felt so low the last couple of weeks, it shows... but I have finally completed some work.

This is one of my favourite pics from the H&S Retreat, myself, Kim, Angie & Susanne on the beach at Manning Point.  Such a lovely outing and I adored the wild waves at this beach... the breeze that rejuvenates and blows the cobwebs away.  Miss it just thinking of it!

I have used some gorgeous new Dusty Attic corners here... they reminded me of the waves and breeze, just perfect.
The chippy has been inked, dabbed with some paint and luminarte daubers, sprayed with glimmermist and then stickled.

Other products: Paper Loft and Kaiser PP's, KandCo Decorative Matt, BoBunny Trim, Prima Trim, Websters Bloomers, Kaiser Bling, Prima Flowers, TPC Studio Metal Accents, MayaRoad, Jenni Bowlin & Heidi Grace Pins.

Take care of you.

Circa 1934

Well 8/6/1935 to be exact!

This is my maternal grandmother on her 23rd birthday, the papers and chip embellishments are from Cosmo Cricket's new range - Circa 1934, with names like Bette & Garbo, they've got to grab your attention, I loved them.

Helen at Red Earth Scrapping sent me the range to play with for this months creative kit, telling me I'd love them and would have great fun... [it's so nice she knows me better than I know myself because at first, these bold patterns had me running in the oppposite direction]!

Yep definitely not the papers I would usually use, but they are perfect for this Hollywood Silver Screen era and now I have created with them... I am rapt with them and can't wait to create some more! They are truly gorgeous... and online images really don't do them justice! I totally adore that heavy damask/doily pattern on the black and cream... and there's a stunning mustard/cream one the same, mmmmm.

So, do yourselves a favour and go grab some, you won't be disappointed!!

Take care of you.

New Friends

I created this for Tomorrow's Memories, using some of the new Fancy Pants Love Birds PP. It's a cute range, but not my style... until you turn it over. How fabulous is this yellow damask print... I loved it, and although yellow is a colour I very rarely ever use, I had to use it!

This is one of the pics from the H&S Retreat, me and Kim... I think this is about the only pic of just the 2 of us, actually I have hardly any one on one pics with anyone, darn!! But I loved this... and thought the yellow suited the fun, new friendship.

Practically everything on here you can get at Tomorrow's, the papers, the gorgeous paper doily, German Scrap, Dusty Attic Skeleton Clock, Iddy Alphas, Friends Chippy word, all those delish flowers, real crochet doilies... mmm I love going through all the bits in the shop.

You can't see it well here but I used layers of Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress ink, white paint and Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Crackle to get a rough uneven texture on the chippy... loved it, the yellow ink bleeds through the white paint and creates such gorgeous shades of yellow, delish!

Take care of you.

Loving Steampunk...

in all it's forms!

I LOVED these Graphic 45 papers the 1st time I saw them, quite different to my usual style/choice, but had to have them. Once I had them in my hot little hands though I had no idea how to attack them, or what to use with them!

So I started researching... looking at work by others, which weren't quite me... some were too dark, others too eclectic, nothing jumped out and inspired me [don't get me wrong, there were some stunners out there, but not what I needed to get that creative push]. So anyways, in my travels I immersed myself in the SteamPunk world, fell in love with a band - Abney Park {I now have 3 of their albums}, have bookmarked numerous websites for a new fashion wardrobe {yeah, I'm dreaming} and nabbed heaps of pics that really inspired me.

So months later I create... this:

Not heavy Steampunk but I feel it was suiting the pic of this bookcover that I can't wait to get my hands on... the prequel to a series I loved! But I love this, the TPC Grandma's Attic Embies gave it that bit of metal it needed, a Dusty Attic Lamp {thanks Tina} and new Ornate Corners added to the old London/Clockwork image... and of course the gorgeous Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante papers!

Take care of you.

Red Earth Challenge

I created yesterday... this for my monthly challenge over at Red Earth Scrapping, it's felt so long since I've done a 'boy' layout, and for once I'm quite satisfied with a layout that is missing bling and flowers {thank goodness for shimmers and cogs}!

Just some everyday pics of Kel & Coco... and one of his toy dogs!

I was inspired by the whole Steampunk melding of wings and cogs etc... thought why not try blending the cogs in with some of the fabulous tribal chippies that Kel loves, personally I love the effect... not steampunk {maybe steam-tribal?! LOL}, still pretty cool in my eyes!!

Take care of you.

Feeling...

... happy, content... dizzy, but happy and content!

So much has been going on for us this last year, jobs gotten, left and found again for Darren, High School and all its miseries for Kellan {yes, we're still having dramas - poor kid}, my creative life gone from nothing to 3 DT's and teaching, a big event of a retreat over east for me and us trying to refinance so we can get some financial stability. It's been up and down and all over the place.

But I'm now feeling happy and content. Not sure why, work is quite stressful with everyone around me not happy and my workload {as well as everyone else’s} increased, and these stupid incessant dizzy spells again {stress that I keep denying I have}... but I think I feel hope again, hope that maybe 'next' year we'll be on top of all our worries and all things will finally come together for us, because this time we are making them come together!

My Saturday trip into Tomorrow's Memories has become a wonderful distraction for me, whether teaching or hunting & gathering supplies or just having a natter to whoever will listen to me, I really love it... it's something I look forward to every weekend, time for ME while still being useful to someone else, and now is a part of my, and my family’s, routine.

The build up to one of the highlights of my year {the Home & Scrapped Retreat} was exhausting, and I was exhausted there because of the chaos that was my weeks prior to it... it took me almost 3 days to settle and feel more myself. Never again am I catching a red-eye when I have more travelling and things to do the next day... it's not worth the drama, well the drama for my poor friends’ anyway - I was on zombie auto-pilot and had no idea what was going on LOL! But I got to enjoy time with some wonderful ladies, some of whom I have 'known' for over 5 years and have now met IRL. It was a treasured time, never to be forgotten.

I stayed with Angie at Summerleigh... thanks yet again Angie, you made me feel so welcomed in your home and it was so nice to be 'mothered' instead of doing the mothering for a change!

I had a roommate - Kim - poor girl had to put up with my late night giggling not to mention the inevitable snoring, but it was wonderful to have that girly fun time with her! I've not had many long natters with Kim before in the 'chat room' at H&S, but I felt like we'd known each other for years, love it when that happens!

I was greeted by Amy at the Airport. Amy and I have had many long heartfelt natters in the chat room, and she is just the same IRL as she was online, what a treasure to have her all to myself on the trip up to Taree and back... time I will hold close to my heart!

I got to meet Heather and Karen, Penny again, Larny, Suzanne {again, we met up in Perth the weekend prior - lucky me}, Linda and Maria... so amazing, I really wish I could have had more one on one time with these ladies, but there wasn't enough time {or me surprisingly} to go around, darn it!

I also was lucky enough to be invited to run a class while there at Scrapsidaisy in Wingham. What fun this was and with such beautiful warm friendly ladies, definitely one of the many highlights of my trip over, not to mention the beginning a new addiction – handmade hat pins!!

Over the course of the 5 days I shared as much of my creative knowledge as I could and learnt so much in return, came home totally exhausted, but bursting with new ideas!

So a couple of weeks on, all creative deadlines met, routine established... and life’s back to 'normal', whatever normal is! Creatively I have 3 classes to plan and am so excited about them and am itching to start playing… but I have one last project to finish before I allow myself to be immersed in all things paint, bling and chippy again!

And so… if you are still here reading, well done! It’s been quite a while since I’ve had a good old rabble on here, and this is what happens when I leave it so long… create a novel!

Take care of you.

Chamberlayne Sisters

Scrapilicious Class - Simply Beautiful

Here is the layout we at Red Earth did last night with my online class... I can't wait to see the finished work when the girls load them, Megan already has and it's so beautiful! Thanks for playing ladies... you all made it so easy!!

I LOVE these Pink Paislee Parisian Anthology papers... have a little collection of them now! All that waiting was so worth it!

There are still a couple of kits left of this at Red Earth Scrapping, thinking not for long though after last nights success, so if you want one be quick!! Instructions come with it, as well as a couple of bonus mini card classes using the left over bits... great value for money!!  There's loads of deliscious goodies in there!  Pink Paislee Papers, Carolee's Alphas, ZVA Bling, Prima Flowers and loads of beautiful Green Tara Roses and Lace.

Tease me...

ok... so I'm teasing you instead!

Last weekend when I wandered into Tomorrow's Memories I found a little package waiting for me saying 'scrap me', ok well maybe not those words but it feels like that every time I am given a new DT pack... just like Alice with all sorts of new wonders to be found!

So I scrapped my little heart on Saturday night... and here's some peeks for you until I take them back to TM's on Saturday {ooooh 'citement, 12 hour crop happening and it's a PJ Party!!}

Anyways... back to teasing!

These are NEW not yet arrived papers from Kaiser... they're a bit nice!!

This one I've used a splash of delish red... look at that lush foil embossed paper in the background... mmmm... so decadent and some gorgeous Swarovski Crystals set in a line were perfect to set it off!

And this one left all earthy with browns... bit of bling, bit of lace... versatile huh!

So pop on by Tomorrow's Memories soon to see the range when it arrives, you'll love it!

Take care of you.

Shine

I read this little quote while hunting through my journal cards, and part of it became the title of this LO of me on my 1st birthday!

[Beauty] ... is not in the face, it is a light in the heart. I will let my light shine. Kahlil Gibran

And so... ta da... this LO has some NEW Dusty Attic on it! A gorgeous fancy trim - which matches the daisy punch I have almost perfectly - got to LOVE that!!

Here the chipboard was inked with Tim Holtz Bundle Sage, then painted with Adirondack Dabbers, Stickled and then UTEE'd.

Trust me... the LO is straight IRL, seriously I cannot take a straight pic to save my life!

I have also used Prima Fairy Flora Paper, My Minds Eye Lost and Found Paper, Prima Flowers, Handmade Dodgy Flower, Bella! Journal Tags, Websters Journal Card, German Scrap, Prima Crystal Swirl, Jenni Bowlin Pins, American Crafts Thickers.

All the NEW Dusty Attic yummies are available for Pre-Order at Dusty Attic NOW... so have a nosey and then start nagging your LSS to get some Dusty happening! Here's a link directly to the website - Dusty Attic Pre-Order.

Take care of you.

Lucky last...

for the weekend, now I'm off to watch the TV while the boys have hidden themselves in the DazCave!

This is another for Red Earth Scrapping... more Prima Fairy Flora, it's divine isn't it!!

That's ME there... I would have been just over 1yo, with my lamb Remus. Mum says when we were both older I used to escape {even through deadbolts} and wander off in the Adelaide Hills with my lamb and my dog... poor mum, she must have gone grey quickly having me as a toddler, but she says she didn't panic too much, she knew the dog would lead me home if I wandered too far!

I have used: Prima Fairy Flora Papers {Fairy Flora and Garden Party - Reverse}, Prima Fairy Flora Flowers {Solids}, Prima Fairy Flora Pebbles, Prima Fairy Flora Notecards, Prima Craftable Flowers, Prima SIIC Bling Swirls, AC Thickers {Bliss}, Green Tara Silver Stems and the lovely Dusty Attic Decorative Trim Set.

Simple finishes on the Dusty Attic this time, just White, Pearl and Juniper Adirondack Dabbers, touched with Patina Stickles once dry.

Hope you all have a lovely week!

Take care of you.
