Pieces of the Puzzle... Donna Salazar Designs

Hi everyone!

I have a little 8x10 layout to share with you today using papers from Donna's Fun and Funky Collection, tied in with some Natural Beauty.  Donna's papers often blend well between Collections, it's just one of the things I love about her papers!

This one is me, I've just cut off about 12" of hair into a concave bob, and going back to my natural colour... huge steps, but feeling much more me.  Just another piece of the puzzle that is my life right now back into place!!

Donna's cute puzzle chipboard from Want2Scrap actually fits together!  I left these raw and coated them with glossy accents, it really deepens the lovely brown tones of Want2Scrap chipboard base.

I've created a "Worn Rose" to match from Donna's Rose Creations Die by Spellbinders.

See you next time!

"Faith" - Be-YOU-tiful, Kaisercraft

Last but not least for today... a sweet little card.  I've always said I'm not a card maker {and perhaps many will agree LOL} but finally I'm enjoying creating them!  Even simple these cute little cards make you happy!

The 6.5x6.5" Paper Pads certainly come in handy when creating cards, the patterns are designed for that reason!  Teamed up with the Collectables pack and you can create a little card full of happiness in a short time!

I'll be back again tomorrow with some more Kaisercraft goodies to share with you!

Small Things Mini Frame - Be-YOU-tiful, Kaisercraft

More beautiful Be-YOU-tiful elements here this afternoon!  This sweet little frame uses a sheet from the 6.5x6.5" Paper Pad and a tag form the Collectables Pack as a quote.

I love these nests so much, and the just right eggs that fit them perfectly.  I cut the nest in half for this one to help it sit flush against the frame.  Means I have another half to use elsewhere!

Thanks again for stopping by... I'll have the last of my Be-YOU-tiful shares for you later today!

Catch Your Dreams Reverse Canvas - Be-YOU-tiful - Kaisercraft

And today I'm back to girly, because I can't help myself!  This little reverse canvas uses the Collectables from the Be-YOU-tiful range. I'm really loving how much fun they are to use.

You know how some of the flowers in Kaisercraft's Paper Blooms come with the petals folded under, below shows a good example of how they look with the petals unfolded and 'fluffed' out.  I love that the look can be changed so easily!

I used the same technique to create the canvas texture as I did HERE, yep... I love that crackle texture!

Thanks for visiting today!

What Really Matters Layout - Be-YOU-tiful, Kaisercraft

Hello again beautiful people!  Today Kaisercraft have work from their Be-YOU-tiful range up on their blog.  You can pop on over HERE to see Linda T, Naomi & Cathy's work as well as my own!

Today I'm sharing this layout with you.  I fell in love with this range and have created classes and samples for Tomorrow's Memories already with it.  It was also the range I turned to for my Kaisercraft Submission!  It's such a fabulously feminine range but this time I wanted to create something more masculine and the range is versatile enough to allow you to do this easily!

I adored the worn, peeled patterns on this paper and wanted to cut into some of the 'peeled' parts to show what was underneath... I lined it with some of the reverse of the paper which is a fabulous corrugated board print.  then I've tucked in some cogs and gauze to create more layers and texture.

The cogs were treated so some crackle texture paste and then inked with Mix'd Media Inx in Truffle, Honey and Mossy to create a worn rusted look.  Kaisercraft's wooden embellishments are fabulous to work with, being wood they are extra hardy, but still are thin enough to cut if you need to.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Kaisercraft Products: P1561 Glamorous, P1562 Delightful | SS248 Sticker Sheet | CT800 Collectables | FL399 Flourish Pack – Cogs, FL400 Flourish Pack – Large Cogs | RS409 Sparklets – Ebony | EM925 Tag Pack – Raw | CM502 Captured Moments Pocket Stickers –  Black

Other: Gauze, Texture Crackle Paste, Brown/Olive/Beige Inks, Foam Tape

Baby Girl Reverse Canvas - Pitter Patter, Kaisercraft

Hi again!  I know, 2 in one day... its going to be a big Kaisercraft week here on my blog!

This is the reverse canvas I've created using Kaisercraft's Pitter Patter range.  I've used just a small piece of patterned paper and used some accents from the matching Collectables pack.

What I like about the pink tones in this range is that they're not your standard 'baby pink' colour, they have a subtle added hue of peach... which means I can add some peach inks into my canvas as well as the pinks and it all blends together!

I have used a new {to me, I'm sure it's been around for ages} crackled texture paste by Wendy Vecchi on this to add some different texture. I have fallen in love and went through 1/2 a tub in one weekend!  I have never had a crackle paste that will crackle so well with a heat gun! It allowed me to finish this in record time as I didn't need to wait for things to dry naturally.

I added the paste directly onto the frame as is, then while still a little wet added my first colour layers of pinks.  I let this dry and then added more crackle paste where I felt the colour was a little deep, used it to also hold some Hexagon cut outs from the Collectables pack as well as pieces of paper doilies, and then slowly added more colours, allowing them to run and blend.  Once thoroughly dried I added more visual texture with metallic rubs

Thanks for visiting!  I'll have more to share with you tomorrow!

Sweet Baby Boy - Pitter Patter, Kaisercraft

My very first posts for Kaisercraft are up on their blog!  How very exciting it is to be a part of this fabulous team!!  I'll share my work here individually this week, because there's lots... I certainly had myself some fun!

This range I thought was so 'just right' for a baby range, still a little out of my comfort zone though, simply because I think I have only scrapped 2 or 3 'baby' layouts.  But as always, with Kaisercraft papers being so beautifully co-ordinated it was a breeze!

This is my now almost 18 year old when he was a little one... he was soooo cute!!

I inked some little word phrases with Peridot Mix'd Media Inx to help them blend in with the papers.  The new Kaiser alpha stickers are simply perfect for small titles and phrases.  I left the wooden embellishments raw for this one, the veneer look being so popular now, but also it was just the perfect shade I needed to work with the photos.

The Sage Blossoms were a perfect match for this range... and being a baby layout, I was 'allowed' to use them!  Kel would be mortified if I used flowers on a layout I did of him now with flowers on it!

The Hexagon pattern was screaming to be cut out, so I cut some out as individuals and some as blocks or strips.  I've raised the individual ones to add interest and depth to the pattern.

Thanks for stopping by... later today I will share with you the Baby Girl Canvas I created!

Blog Hop with a Difference...

Hi everyone!  I was asked by Sue Smyth to join a  BLOG HOP with a DIFFERENCE.
It's a great idea and a way to get to know us and who in turn inspires us, a little bit of fun!

You can pop over and see Sue’s Blog & Post is HERE.   Thanks Sue for 'tagging' me xoxo

Here are the questions Sue has asked me:

1. What am I working on?

Right now? Not so much, I can't find my scrap desk LOL. I've just started packing, renovating and all that 'fun' stuff so I have everything everywhere! {Note: read 'packing and renovating' as "moving stuff around the house but getting nowhere"}.  And yes... I'm going to share the chaos that is my desk... yep, it surpasses being a 'mess'.

However generally I'm always working on something. Class layouts for Tomorrow's Memories, DT work for Donna Salazar Designs and Kaisercraft or a Commission for Australian Scrapbook Ideas... there's always something I want to play with! This weekend I had a weekend ‘off’, which means I caught up on my Project Life album {only 6 weeks behind this time}.  I did this on the coffee table though, since the scrap desk is hiding.  But that works for me, the coffee table is in the lounge, where the heater is LOL.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I love adding purely handmade elements such as my flowers and ruffles, recycled fabrics, hand stitching - these are the elements of 'me' I put into my work.

3. Why do I create what I do?

Waayyy back when I started, it was to record everything.  My memory is shocking and I was hoping this would help me remember all those little moments. But then it turned into a creative outlet as well, so now I do it simply because I enjoy it!  I've discovered that I need to create something, anything... be it a messy ink on the hands {clothes, table and where-ever else it ends up} canvas, a layout of a favourite photo or a tag for a friend, because it makes me happy.  Working full time quoting all day, creating gives my brain that 'me' time it needs.

4. How does your creating process work?

I'd love to say I have a process but honestly, I don't. If I have projects to work on I grab them, hunt for things to go with them, look for photos that match (or change ones to suit) and then I just relax and 'play' and the layout creates itself.   Perhaps that's a process, but I would rarely plan out how a layout or canvas is going to look, and if I did I can guarantee it'd be nothing like I'd thought!!

We are all inspired by others, luckily for me 2 of my main inspirations are from a couple of girls who's friendships are so very close to my heart:

Natasha doesn't create much anymore, but her work continues to inspire so many people, me amongst them.  But more than that - she, who she is inspires me. We talk everyday and her beautiful nature, her humour, her silliness {because we all need one of 'those' friends in our lives} and her caring ways continue to inspire me - she's just an amazing person in all ways.  Although I'm still waiting for my personal tutorial on how to create her perfect Bitty Blossoms that I'm so useless at!

Michelle is soooo talented!  I was in such awe of her... back in the day she was {well still is} one of the people who broke all the rules and created with anything, and made it look perfect.  When I was invited to join Dusty Attic I was almost beside myself that I would be on a DT with 'the' Michelle Grant.  Now she's one of my closest friends and I stir her up like I do my sister.  It'd be a rare day that we don't talk.  She continues to inspire me with her drive, her amazing imagination and how she can create with anything.  She's a creative powerhouse!  You know what... I'm still in awe of her, she truly is one of the most beautiful people I've ever met.

I'm also always inspired by fabulous designer Donna Salazar, who I'm lucky enough to create for.  I love Donna's positive cheeky outlook on life and how it comes through in her work.  I have been inspired by her for a long time, with her love of handmade elements and denim, but as I've got to know her better I'm inspired by her absolute love and devotion to her family, it's beautiful!

And last, but certainly not least by any count - Nadia Cannizzo.  She has a style that's messy, but perfect... I love everything she does.  Unfortunately I can't mimic it, but that doesn't mean I'm not inspired by her work and don't learn from her fabulous tips and tutorials. She has a wonderful challenge blog as well, which I'm sure most people in the scrapping world knows about - Once Upon a Sketch.

There's so many more wonderful designers who I have to go see what they're up to each week, whose work makes me go 'ooooh'.  There's so much talent out there in this big wide world of ours, but I've found the people who inspire me most are people who have shared their stories, have worked through hardships and who create from the heart not from ambition... people who are real!  These are the ones who inspire me endlessly and not just in the way I create.

Families are like Fudge... Donna Salazar Designs

I'm back!

After a little DSD holiday I'm back and today I have a simple little layout share using lovely cream, brown and denim tones.

Donna's papers are always fun, especially when teamed up with snippets from her Crafty Chronicles, which you must read before cutting up!!

I must apologise for the photo not being spot on colour wise, it's mid-winter here in Australia and trying to capture that 'just right' light proved difficult today.

I created a ruffle for this one, again LOL, but they just suit Donna's papers so well!  I've also created a "Worn Rose" using Donna's Rose Creations Die from Spellbinders.

The Chronicle paper and tag edges were inked with Donna's Mixed Media Inx in Denim, it's just that right shade of blue.

Under the photo and main paper layers I've also added seem denim snippets, crochet lace, Chronicles snippets and some tags.  Just adding in these little touches between the layers helps to develop interest and lots of wonderful layered texture.

I have missed you all and will see you again soon!!
